View 5.3.0 and View Agent Compatibility qestion

We have a large environment with 5.3.0 installed and we will be upgrading to 5.3.4 soon.

I have searched and searched but I cannot find a compatibility matrix for the View Agents.   Will upgrading the Agent on the workstations to 5.3.4 cause any issues until we can get the server infrastructure upgraded to 5.3.4?

Is it possible to move from 5.3.0 to 5.3.4 as a rolling upgrade?

We have 1 composer Server and 3 connection servers

Our pools are large with a bunch of spare machines so there is not an issue with the composer server being down for 15 - 30 min.

My concern is on the connection sever side.   Is it safe to upgrade those one at a time leaving the others online servicing requests?

VMware Horizon View 6.1 Orchestrator Plugin question

$

I want to be able to automate the provisioning of new virtual machines with installed VMware View agents in a cloud based application.  The VMs are mostly Linux (using the beta Linux agent) and Windows.  In order to accomplish, I need to create a Manual Desktop Pool (for Linux) and an RDS pool for Windows, add the respective hosts and perform the entitlements.  Are there workflows that exist in the View Orchestrator plugin to create these two types of pools (I couldn't find them) or must I use PowerCLI?   It would be helpful to have the description sections filled in for the workflows:-)

VMware Horizon View Client grabs the mouse when it regains focus, anyway to turn off this "feature"

I've googled, attempted to search these forums, and hunted in settings, I'm just not finding what I'm looking for. I tend to run Horizon view in a window on a separate monitor. Whenever I work, if it happened to be my previous window when I minimize something, BOOM it takes the mouse to the center of it's screen. The behavior only seems to appear in the Windows client (I also use the OSX client from time to time) I don't recall having this issue in older versions. If anyone knows what needs to be done to correct this issue please let me know, if it's not something I can do on the client, I'm more than happy to work with my IT team that handles these requests, but from my understanding they have the issue as well. Thanks again, and I apologize if this was answered somewhere already, I just kept getting workstation links and other mouse issues in knowledge articles.

Upgrading View 5.1.2 to 6.0 path

Hi,

We run View 5.1.2.928164 and have done for a while with no issues but to upgrade our ESXi environment from 5.1 to 5.5 or 6.0 we will need to upgrade View since it is not supported on 5.5 or 6.0 (although may work).

We have a current subscription and can upgrade our View licenses to whatever version we want to from 5.1.2 to the latest but I'm struggling to find the upgrade path from the version we are on to the latest.

Can I go from 5.1.2 straight to 6.0?  Or do I have to go from 5.1.2 to 5.3 or 5.4 etc?

If anyone can point me in the right direction as to where I can find this info I'd be much obliged!

User Accounts showing in C:\Users on View Connection Server

$

This is a weird one....

Is it normal to see our View user accounts, standard Active Directory users that are entitled to View but should have zero privileges whatsoever on the Connection Server, showing up with folders within C:\Users on the Connection Server? They also show as having a profiles within Computer -> Properties -> Advanced System Settings -> Advanced Tab -> User Profiles Section -> Settings.

Something happened today and our C:\ drive on our Connection Server completely filled up. Upon investigation C:\Users is the culprit and is full of these profiles. REALLY WEIRD!!

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Different IO Performance in template and in linked clone replica

Hello,

I'm using locally attached SSD in my view POC. I have investigated the Read I/O performance of a linked clone VM and it seems to be much slower (random I/O) as the base image, both residing on the same SSD

Here are the results for the base image

template.png

and here the results of the linked clone

base_disk.png

Is this expected or do I have some issues with my setup?

BTW the speed of the disposable disk is ok:

Zero Client Crashing with vGPU and two monitors

Whenever we try to connect to a vGPU enabled pool with two monitors the Zero Client (Wyse P25) crashes and reboots. If the pool is set to refresh then you will never be able to login.

I set the pool to not refresh and I'm able to login. The issue is specific to two monitors if i use only one the connection works properly on the first attempt.

View 6.0 PCoIP Performance measuring?

$

Hi, we did update from view 5.0 to view 6.0.1 with new hardware and teradici- and nVidia k1 card.

Some users told me that is slower then it was on view5.0. I sow that the problem was not on all pools. It is on the pcoip GPO settings. In older version I used the tool PCoIPConfig.exe Tool. This tool was quiet good for the right pcoip settings. But this tool does not work on the view6.x environment.

Where can I find something (tool or template for Windowsperformance) like that for measuring a PCoIP connection?

Thanks!

View Desktops Getting Disconnected Around the Same Time Each Day

I have one pool out of 7 that say they are getting disconnected around the same time each day. These users connect thru a security server as do others.  When looking in the Event log it does show them getting disconnected but not exactly the same time each day.  It's withiong 15 minuutes.  Not all users get disconnected at teh same time.  They seem to be staggered 5 to 10 minutes apart. I suspected their internet connection but the one user tells me that the same thing happens from home.  Any thoughts on where to look at this??  I am having them update to the latest client to see if that changes things.  Any suggestions or comments are appreciated.  thanks

But the agent did not work on dual nic environment.

Removing old View Pod

$

Does anyone know if there is anything special that needs to be done when removing an old View pod, other then just shutting down and deleting the old connection servers and composer server? We have a View 5.3 environment that we have since moved off of and onto a completely separate View 6.1 environment. They shared the same vCenter server, so that will stick around, but I am ready to remove the old 5.3 servers.

Slow network access since updating to horizon 6/ESXi

$

I'm having a strange issue on every desktop that we've upgraded to the latest version of Horizon on. I've upgraded from view 5.1 to 6.1 (or whatever the latest is, I forget). Currently every host is also running ESXi 6. The issue is when we try to access anything network related, such as load a webpage, or access email it takes up to 5 minutes. I've tried with E1000 NIC and VMXNET 3. The desktops are also running the latest version of vmware tools and the horizon agent.

Is there anything obvious I could do to resolve this? Network load looks the same as when it was running 5.1 so I don't believe it could be anything switch related. I've tested many physical desktops/laptops which work perfectly fine, but 2k of our VDI VMs all run slow when accessing network resources. Normal desktop use is normal such as typing in documents.

Let me know if I can provide any more information.

Thank you
