I am looking at setting up several old notebooks, HP 8840 and 6910. I am not that familiar with View but we recently purchased several View licenses in which I want to use a handful of them to convert these notebooks into VDI clients. One thing I am uncertain of is do I need an OS on them, Linux or Windows to start up the VDI client or is there a method which I can just boot these notebooks up to my VDI image? They currently are running a Linux OS and will be used for Kiosk machines to browse websites and to print to a specific printer. I looked over the VMware Horizon 6.0 with View white paper titled Configuring Kiosk Mode. This is exactly what I am looking to accomplish just not sure what is needed to make it happen. I would prefer to just have them boot right into the VDI image but from my little knowledge looks like I'll need something to run the View client.
Overall goal is to have these notebooks run the VDI image with little maintenance on these older notebooks to browse the web and print.
