Hi all,
I have a quick licensing question (hopefully). I've checked over the relevant View licensing and packaging document but don't seem to be able to identify a specific answer to my scenario.
I wish to purchase 4 x 10 pack View Standard licenses. This is for a new VDI POC implementation consisting of around 35 Windows 8 and Win 7 desktops along with a couple of View Connection servers. There will be a new Active Directory service installed on Server 2012 R2 as part of this implementation. I understand that View Standard includes vSphere Desktop and vCenter Desktop, which provides the hosting facility for the VDI desktops as well as "running VMware products which are included in VMware View Enterprise, VMware Horizon View or the VMware Horizon Suite, or third party connection brokers and desktop management and monitoring tools" (from the VMware View EULA).
I understand the EULA to mean any Connection Servers, Security Servers, Replica Servers, etc., including Active Directory in this case, which are required for a View implementation. However there is another Window 2012 R2 server required for this POC which hosts some third-party smartcard software. This is the grey area for me - it is required for this specific VDI implementation but is not part of the Horizon suite.
Can someone advise on whether it is likely I would be contravening the EULA by hosting this smartcard VM on a vSphere Desktop ESXi and if so, how do I license this individual VM to adhere to licensing requirements?
Many thanks
